Harper and I had the opportunity to stay at Ace Adventure Resort this week, and Harper can’t stop raving about how it was one of the most amazing places he has ever been to! This resort offers a wide range of activities, including white water rafting, zip lining, and a water park. With comfortable cabins and proximity to New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, Ace Adventure Resort is the perfect destination for adventure lovers. I am certain that this trip will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Harper and I flew into Charleston West Virginia. Breeze Airways now offers a direct flight from Charleston, SC to Charleston WV and it is super quick and affordable! We rented a car at the airport then drove through the most beautiful scenic route for about an hour. Then we arrived at Ace Adventure Resort. The property offers a variety of cabins. From cozy one-bedroom options to spacious four-bedroom lodgings that can accommodate up to 14 guests, each cabin is fully equipped with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay, including kitchens, bathrooms, and living areas. Harper’s favorite feature of our cabin was the amazing hot tub. What sets Ace Adventure Resort apart is its commitment to getting kids outdoors and immersed in nature. Nestled in a serene wooded area, the cabins offer a tranquil and secluded atmosphere that allows you to fully appreciate the natural beauty of West Virginia. But despite their peaceful location, the cabins are conveniently located near the on-site water park and other outdoor activities, making it easy to enjoy all the exciting adventures at this 1,500-acre resort.
The water park at Ace Adventure Resort is is situated on a 5-acre lake and is a great way to cool off on a hot summer day. The park features a variety of water attractions, including a zip line, floating obstacle course, a giant water slide and “THE BLOB.” When we arrived, Harper ran straight up the climbing tower and jumped on the massive zip line that runs down to the lake. This park is all kinds of awesome! There are more than 50 inflatable toys, including a climbing mountain, giant 200′ waterslide, giant spinning balls, and seesaws. The park is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and day passes are available for $32.95 per person. Children 6-15 years old can enter the park for $27.95. When you’re done playing in the water, kick back on the beach with a slice of wood-fired pizza from The Lost Paddle Bar and Grill. The restaurant overlooks the waterpark and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was great!
White water rafting is one of the most popular activities at Ace Adventure Resort. The resort offers a variety of rafting trips, ranging from beginner to advanced. The trips take place on the New River and the Gauley River, both of which offer stunning views and thrilling rapids. The New River is a great option for beginners. It offers a more relaxed rafting experience with Class I-III rapids. The Gauley River, on the other hand, is known for its challenging rapids and is recommended for experienced rafters. The cost of white water rafting at Ace Adventure Resort varies depending on the trip and the time of year. Prices start at $79 per person for a half-day trip on the New River and can go up to $219 per person for a full-day trip on the Gauley River. The price includes all necessary equipment, such as helmets, life jackets, and paddles, as well as a guide who will lead the trip and ensure your safety. Harper and I had the most exciting rafting adventure. I was honestly pretty nervous but our guide was fabulous and really made us feel safe. We hit two level-five rapids! It was wild and so much fun!
One our last morning at the resort, we decided to get in one final adventure. We went zip lining! The resort offers a variety of zip line tours, ranging from a short and easy tour to a longer and more challenging tour. The tours take place in a wooded area and offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape. All you need to do is strap on a harness, clip into the lines and GO! Once again, we were super impressed by the Ace guides. We had such an amazing trip. The tour offered an incredible view of the New River Gorge! Plus, the zips are tandem, so Harper and I could go side by side! The cost of zip lining at Ace Adventure Resort varies depending on the tour. Our tour was $89 per person. The price includes all necessary equipment, such as harnesses and helmets, as well as a guide who will lead the tour and ensure your safety. I cannot recommend this tour enough, it was awesome!
Another huge plus is the close proximity to the National Park! Ace Adventure Resort is located near the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve. The park offers a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, rock climbing, and fishing. The park is known for its stunning views of the New River Gorge, which is one of the deepest and longest canyons in the eastern United States. The resort is only a 15-minute drive from the national park, making it easy to explore the park and all it has to offer. The park is open year-round and offers a variety of activities for visitors of all ages and skill levels. Harper had already explored two National Parks before, and this was his third one. We were actually in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park earlier this week. Two national parks in four days, not a bad first week of summer! The newly established River Gorge National Park and Preserve covers over 70,000 acres of land, including 53 miles of the New River, which is one of the oldest rivers in the world. The park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including black bears, bald eagles, and river otters. One of the most exciting things about the River Gorge National Park and Preserve is the range of outdoor activities available to visitors. The park offers opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing, and whitewater rafting. Visitors can explore the park’s many trails, which offer stunning views of the river and the surrounding mountains. The park is also home to several historic sites, including the Thurmond Historic District, which was once a bustling railroad town. Some fun facts about the River Gorge National Park and Preserve: It is home to the longest steel arch bridge in the Western Hemisphere, the New River Gorge Bridge, which spans 3,030 feet across the river. The park is also home to the Endless Wall Trail, which is considered one of the best hiking trails in the United States, offering stunning views of the river and the surrounding mountains. Additionally, the park is home to several rare and endangered plant species, including the Virginia spiraea and the running buffalo clover, making it an important site for conservation efforts.
Harper and I absolutely loved our time in West Virginia! We are already planning our next trip to Ace Adventure Resort in West Virginia.
